Abbess Vale was a female mouse leader of Redwall Abbey who assumed the role following either the death or retirement of Abbot Saxtus. She was in charge of Redwall when it experienced the Dryditch Fever epidemic, and helped care for the ill and dying Redwallers. Her friends included Bremmun, Faith Spinney, Brother Hollyberry, and Furgle the Hermit.
She was known to often be rather irritable, fretful, and tired.
Vale kept a journal as Abbess, which included directions to the Great Inland Lake written by Samkim in it; this was used many generations later to help in the war against the Marlfoxes.
