Bula was a female otter under Skipper Warthorn's command who was a good fighter and especially agile underwater. Because she was well respected by the otter clan, it is probable that she was second in command. Bula and Pear acted as guides for Abbess Germaine and the surviving members of Loamhedge Abbey and brought them to Brockhall. She was also called upon, along with five others, to sink the Wuddship.
