Eli Bar Shimon was a wealthy Hebrew man who captained the White Ram. He was skilled in many things, including cooking, wine, archery, and sailing. Eli was the grandfather of Joshua Shimon and father of Jacob Shimon.
He led the House of Shimon, a tribe of warrior wine merchants from Ascalon, Israel.
Ben saved Eli's grandson Joshua from being eaten by sharks; later, Eli helped Ben and Ned escape Al Misurata. He shot Padre Marlanese when Ben and Ned were about to be killed and sent them off to the Blue Turtle to be safe.
