Grandmum Gurvel was an ancient mole cook resident of Redwall Abbey who worked in the kitchens with Toran Widegirth. She wore an apron. Gurvel was frequently angry at Horty, Fenna, and Springald because they raided the kitchens. Gurvel later helped to defend Redwall against vermin. She lent the fighters a large sack of hotroot pepper that she had no use for, and helped come up with the idea for the Pepper Bombs.
