Logline[]
When a rebellious teenage girl dares to spend a night in a haunted graveyard, she discovers an ancient vampire family struggling with their own generational conflicts. In a modern twist on classic horror, she must confront not only the undead but also the oppressive expectations of a world that demands women conform - or face the consequences...
Official Synopsis[]
In a quiet suburban town, young Jamie struggles to balance her mother's helicopter parenting and the desire for social approval whilst maintaining her own values. On Halloween night, a dare from her friends leads her to a decrepit graveyard, where she stumbles upon an ancient vampire crypt. But these vampires aren't just creatures of the night – they're an undead family, complete with their own matriarchal and patriarchal tensions. As Jamie meets Vladimira, a young vampire her age, she's drawn into a world that mirrors her own struggles. Vladimira is trapped by her overbearing vampire mother, who insists on maintaining outdated traditions. Brian Jacques' 1990s story has been adapted and updated with sharp wit, dark humour and a Buffy-esque flair. Jamie and the Vampires is a modern allegory exploring the patriarchal pressures placed on women and girls in 2025. It's a coming-of-age story that blends spooky thrills with biting social commentary, proving that sometimes, the scariest monsters are the societal norms we dare to defy.
Differences from Jamie and the Vampires[]
- In the original short story, Jamie and Vladimir are male characters. In the short film, they will be female characters.
