Major Perigord Habile Sinistra was a seasoned hare in the Long Patrol of Lady Cregga Rose Eyes. He was the brother of Captain Twayblade; like her, he was fearsome with swords, wielding a dueling sabre.
In his youth, Perigord served under Colonel Cornspurrey De Fformelo Tussock; during that time he was smitten by Mem Divinia. In later seasons, he took in the Colonel's son, Tammo. He cared a lot for his best green tunic, which was ruined after a series of battles with Rapscallions.
Perigord was assigned the duty of seeking out Damug Warfang, but ended up housing his patrol at Redwall Abbey due to the weakened south wall. He was the principal strategist during the Battle of the Ridge of a Thousand. Towards the battle's end, Perigord was captured and very nearly executed by Damug for shouting insults at the Firstblade, but the timely intervention of Cregga and her forces turned the tide against the Rapscallions, allowing Perigord and the other prisoners to survive the battle and win the day.
Later he gave his monocle to Cregga, who in turn gave it to Abbess Songbreeze Swifteye. It was found by Fwirl in an ash tree that grew near the pond of the Abbey.

Trivia[]
- Perigord is a former province of France.
- Perigord is mentioned as being a highly-skilled left-pawed fighter with his sabre. His name reflects this fact, as "Sinistra" is derived from the Latin term "sinister," meaning 'left', and "Habile" is the old English word for "deft" or "skilled".
