Perigord was assigned the duty of seeking out Damug Warfang, but ended up housing his patrol at Redwall Abbey due to the weakened south wall. He was the principal strategist during the Battle of the Ridge of a Thousand. Towards the battle's end, Perigord was captured and very nearly executed by Damug for shouting insults at the Firstblade, but the timely intervention of Cregga and her forces turned the tide against the Rapscallions, allowing Perigord and the other prisoners to survive the battle and win the day.
Perigord is mentioned as being a highly-skilled left-pawed fighter with his sabre. His name reflects this fact, as "Sinistra" is derived from the Latin term "sinister," meaning 'left', and "Habile" is the old English word for "deft" or "skilled".
