Raura Shellrudd was an old sea otter wife and the friend of Slippo the seal. She had no offspring and lived with Slippo in a den which was located in a channel between some small cliff rocks. Raura and Slippo met Sagaxus, Scarum, and Kroova when the trio were running away from Salamandastron towards Redwall Abbey.
Raura offered them shelter for a night and supper. Disapproving of runaways, Raura tried her best to guilt trip the crew for their actions. She very nearly succeeded in convincing them to go back to Salamandastron, but the young ones fled from her dwelling, not wanting to hear any more.
Raura was the owner of Red Firebrand Pepper.
