Scratch was a male weasel who was a captain in the Thousand Eye Army. Along with Thicktail, he was sent to accompany Tsarmina in their attempt to recapture Martin the Warrior and Gonff the Mousethief.
He was later promoted to be Cludd's backup, and proved to be extremely observant and competent, embarrassing Cludd repeatedly. He also had scant respect for Cludd's rank or Cludd himself. After an incident where he pushed Cludd down into the dirt, Cludd sent him off with Blacktooth and Splitnose to trail Martin, Young Dinny and Gonff. Scratch met his end when he was killed by a male swan for attempting to steal his mate's eggs.
