Splitnose was a male stoat in the Thousand Eye Army. Along with Blacktooth, he was in charge of the patrol that raided Ben Stickle's home, and took their last five loaves of bread. Additionally, Splitnose, with Blacktooth the ferret and Scratch the weasel, was sent to pursue Martin the Warrior, Gonff, and Young Dinny. After Scratch was killed by a swan, Splitnose and Blacktooth got into an argument. Splitnose killed Blacktooth, but was killed himself soon afterward when he fell into a sinkhole. At the time, he apologized to his mate, "Sorry, Blackie, I didn't mean to...", and died.
Splitnose also demonstrated a love for food. He and Blacktooth played a game while tracking Martin and company, and he commented how he loved blackberry muffins with honey.
