In the first 2017 edition of Redwall Collectors' Community, we're going to explore the "Author's Limited Edition" of Redwall!
Around 2000, Redwall La Dita, the Redwall copyright holder, successfully held negotiations with the UK's Random House publisher, and was able to configure a deal for a reprint of the first hardback UK Hutchinson Children's Books version of Redwall, which was previously out of print at that time.
The order was for 500 books; each one would be signed by Brian Jacques and individually numbered.
This special edition was only available for purchase at the Redwall La Dita Book Club shop at redwall.org, and needless to say, it sold out relatively quickly.
Today, finding the Redwall Author's Limited Edition is a bit more difficult, and many online sellers have a hefty price tag on it (as of this writing, the ones I've seen are upwards of $200-300, in many cases more).
The Redwall Wiki library has acquired edition number 115 of 500, which you can see on the title page, with Mr. Jacques' autograph.
What also makes this book different than the original UK hardback is the text of the jacket flaps - both the right and left flaps have 100% different text, which references the series as a whole (the page before the title page lists the published books up through The Taggerung)
This is truly one of the rare items out there, and one of two items I'm aware of that are signed and numbered.
