"Skipper the Otter collects the Dibbuns", by Christopher Denise

Brian Jacques paints pictures with words. However, there is another integral component to the stories he's told, and that's the illustrators and artists who have created the incredible artwork that brings his characters to life. Previously, we've explored the Artwork of the Redwall TV Series.

The Redwall Wiki will now be taking a closer look at the artwork from the interiors and exteriors of the books.

We're starting with Christopher Denise: we've added his piece, "Skipper the Otter collects the Dibbuns" from the picture book The Redwall Cookbook to our official library.

The official description:

I created this illustration for the much loved Redwall Cookbook by my late friend Brian Jacques. The Redwall Cookbook is an actual cookbook and a storybook that features the beloved characters from the Redwall novels.
This original art was created for the Spring chapter and features Skipper of the Otters, Bungo the mole babe, and Tubspike the hedgehog.
-Original art measures roughly 5.5 inches high by 5 inches wide
-Created with Acrylic paint and Charcoal on Arches paper
-Original Art-not a print!

If you own The Redwall Cookbook, it can be found on page 14, right before the "Abbott's Special Abbey Trifle" recipe.

Artwork from Christopher Denise arrives in ~16in wide X 13.5in high packing material for protection.

Included inside is an invoice confirming the order, which adds "The art was created with charcoal pencil and acrylic paint on paper. The materials are archival but the painting should be handled with care. I would recommend avoiding touching the surface of the painting if possible as oils from your hands could discolor the piece over time."

The piece arrives sealed in plastic for additional care. And, as you can tell, it looks awesome.
