Canadian voice actor Alyson Court is probably best known as Jubilee from X-Men: The Animated Series in the 1990s, Lydia Deetz from the Beetlejuice animated series, Malani from Star Wars: Ewoks, Claire Redfield from the Resident Evil video games, and for her portrayal of Loonette on The Big Comfy Couch.
However, Court also contributed to the pilot episode of Season 1 of the Nelvana Redwall TV Series, Cluny the Scourge - part I. While she wasn't listed in the show's official credits, she provided the few lines spoken by Matthias' sister, Myrtle, in the show's opening moments as the pair head towards Redwall Abbey. This character is attributed to her on IMDB.
The Redwall Wiki recently spoke with Court, where we hoped to see if she even recalled recording those brief seconds more than 25 years ago. And we learned something surprising. It wasn't just Myrtle that she voiced!
"I went in for a few episodes," Court told the Redwall Wiki. "Honestly, it's hard to remember ... but that's the first time I ever met Alison Pill, she was just a kid."
When Pill was a youth, she voiced Cornflower Fieldmouse in Season 1, and has since gone on to star in live-action movies and TV shows.
"I did do more than one episode," Court added, "so it would have been more than the pilot, but it might not have been the same character ... like a secondary character that they would have had to cast."
We're grateful to Alyson Court for her time, memories, and this fascinating Redwall insight, and can't help but wonder who else she voiced. We'll certainly be listening very closely next time we watch back the show!
