And we're back with more recollections from Nelvana Redwall TV Series voice actors! Today, we're hearing from Canadian actor Elley-Ray Hennessy (also known as Ellen-Ray Hennessy), who provided the voices for Dunwing in Season 1, Stryk Redkite in Season 2, and Rowanoak in Season 3.
Hennessy has been involved in the industry for decades, contributing to The Care Bears, Sylvanian Families, Babar, A.L.F., Pellswick, and numerous other series.
She told us that she "absolutely adored" working on Brian Jacques' Redwall, calling it a "delightful series filled with passion and intrigue."
Out of the three characters she voiced, Hennessy cited Rowanoak as her favorite one.
"I loved all of them for different reasons but I think I had a passion for Rowanoak because she was so strong-willed, powerful, disciplined, able-bodied, with great heart, a very sort-of 'mother warrior' instinct," she said.
Hennessy was aware of the Redwall books before working on the show, and said she particularly enjoyed working with Ben Campbell (Martin the Warrior in Season 1 & 2; King Bull Sparra & Darkclaw in Season 1; Stonefleck in Season 2), describing his amusing antics during sessions where he voiced King Bull Sparra.
She'd also like to see the series revisited (which hopefully happens soon).
